Podiatrists ( or Chiropodists, if that's a term you are more familiar with), are fortunate to be able to assist in the prevention and management of foot and lower limb problems. 
It requires a highly specialised set of knowledge and skills to effectively manage the risks of the Diabetic, Rheumatoid or elderly foot, and understand the delicate development of a child's foot, treating general nail and skin disorders, and ensuring indicators of health conditions such as MS or Circulation blockages in the foot are not confused with sports injuries, or nerve entrapment.
 A thirty minute appointment can relieve discomfort of an Ingrowing toe nail, or the pain from a stress fracture almost immediately. 

Since qualifying from Salford University with a Bsc (hons)  in 1998, I've been fortunate to have worked in every branch of Specialist Podiatry; rheumatology, diabetes, and musculoskeletal, where I was accustomed to checking X rays , scan and bloods reports to help reslove pain and deformities. 

I've was located within St. Helens and Knowsley NHS for over 20 years, and with the Flying Doctors Service in South Australia for short time. in 2006. 

In 2012 after my first son was born, I started to work as a Podiatrist and Chiropodist in Leigh, Greater Manchester, my hometown, with the amazing team at Leigh Therapy Centre, seeing  patients for routine Chiropody/Podiatry, and Nail surgery.

Myself and Karen Donohue, Physiotherapist offer a multidisciplinary service for Musculoskeletal/ Sporting Injuries.
I'm still updating my knowledge through further education, and integrated practice, and still loving the job!
